Planting established trees allows you to have full-grown trees much faster. Once you get them planted, there are things you must do to help them grow well. This way you can enjoy your trees for years to come. Below is more information about this so you will know how to take proper care of your new trees.

Water the Trees

Water your trees as soon as you finish planting them. You can use a garden hose or anything that can provide a stream of water for approximately 30 to 60 seconds. This will allow enough water to get to the roots.

During the first two years, you need to provide water yourself to help your trees. This is because new trees use up a lot of energy when growing roots and getting roots established well. Because of this, the trees will not handle drought or heat well on their own. Put about three inches of mulch around the base of each tree to help with watering. Mulch will help prevent water runoff, so it gets down into the roots.

How much you should water your trees will depend on the type of trees you plant. Talk with a professional about this so you will not overwater, which can be just as bad as your trees not getting enough water. Too much water can cause the roots to rot, which will cause a tree to die.

Hire a Tree Care Service

One of the best things you can do for your new trees is to hire a tree care service company. They will come to your property and inspect the trees you have. They will look for problems, such as diseases and insects, and take care of this immediately before things become worse.

Pruning your new trees is also important. Throughout the season, remove dead branches. Besides this, it is generally best to prune trees when they are dormant, such as at the end of winter just before spring. When your trees are not very tall you can prune them on your own. When the trees start growing, however, the tree care service should prune them for you.

The tree care service can look at other trees on your property while they are there to ensure they are healthy. There are some diseases that will spread to other trees which can affect newly planted trees even more.

The tree care service can give you many tips on taking proper care of your trees.

About Me
hardscaping areas that won't grow grass easily

I live in an area that is very difficult to grow grass. If I was to water my lawn a couple of times each day, the grass may grow, but that would cost me a small fortune in water bills and waste a lot of water that could be used for more efficient purposes. Instead of fighting the grass to grow, I decided to embrace the dryness of the area and complete the landscape design using mostly hardscape materials. I used rocks of all sizes coupled with wood to create a yard that I love to spend time in and am very proud of. Find out how to use nothing more than hardscape materials to finish your property.
