Purchased Acreage To Build A Home? Hire An Excavation Service

If you purchased acreage and are planning to build a home, the land may not be ready. There may be a lot of trees, bushes, and other debris. If so, the quickest way to remove these things so you can start building is to hire an excavation service. Below is information on how this works.

Excavation Equipment

It can be useful to know the excavation equipment that will be used to clear your land. Some of this equipment is very large so there needs to be enough room for them to enter and leave the property.

Backhoe loaders are used to shovel and move dirt on smaller areas of land. If you have a lot of land that you are clearing, the company may choose to use a bulldozer instead to move the dirt. A large dump truck is used to remove dirt from the property and take it somewhere else. If you would like to keep some of this dirt for yourself, make sure you tell them.

Other equipment used includes zero-swing excavators, spider excavators, skid steer loads, and trenchers. What is used depends on the type of land clearing the excavation service needs to do.

Clear the Land

The first part is clearing the land. The contractor will first check if there are any easements on the property, as well as check if there are electrical lines or plumbing lines they need to be aware of. If so, they will mark these areas off so they know where they can clear. There may be codes and requirements that you must follow, which the contractor will know about.

All trees are dug up and removed if you do not want to keep them. If you do want to keep some trees, hire a tree service to move them to another area for you. Once the trees are removed, then brush, bushes, and more are cleared from the land. The contractor also removes all debris until the land is completely clear.

Land Grading

Once the land is clear, the company will grade the land. This is important as there should be a good slope so rain does not pool on the property when it rains. This can also prevent your home from flooding during heavy rains. Engineers are used to determine the correct slope in most cases. When they finish, your land will be even and have a slight slope. You can then plant grass and have a beautiful lawn.

The excavation company you hire can give you more information about this.

About Me
hardscaping areas that won't grow grass easily

I live in an area that is very difficult to grow grass. If I was to water my lawn a couple of times each day, the grass may grow, but that would cost me a small fortune in water bills and waste a lot of water that could be used for more efficient purposes. Instead of fighting the grass to grow, I decided to embrace the dryness of the area and complete the landscape design using mostly hardscape materials. I used rocks of all sizes coupled with wood to create a yard that I love to spend time in and am very proud of. Find out how to use nothing more than hardscape materials to finish your property.
